Frequently Asked Questions

How does the monitored alarm work?

Monitored Alarm connects to an Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC) which is a remote central station manned 24 hours a day 365 days a year, via your telephone line. This permanent phone connection enables the alarm system to send signals as and when necessary to the ARC which in turns verifies the signals received and take appropriate actions. For instance if the alarm system detects an intrusion, it immediately sends an intruder signal to the ARC via the phone line. Within seconds the ARC is able to verify the alarm signal and decide on appropriate course of action – to alert you or one or more of your nominated key-holders and if necessary alert the Police via an agreed communication channel.

What happens to my alarm monitoring if my phone line is cut?

Alarm Monitoring of your premises requires an active phone line. The risk of vulnerable phone line can be overcome by adopting a dual signalling method such as Redcare and DualCom.

Can I have a house alarm that is monitored?

YES. You have other options such as Bells Only Alarm which makes audible noises to deter intruders or alert the neighbours of a break in. It is also possible for your house alarm to send messages to your mobile phone via its on-board communicator or a dedicated Speech Dialer.

Would I be able to set my burglar alarm at night?

YES. Your alarm allows for full setting, part setting and night setting. Typically, at night setting, you are free to move around at some area of your home such as upstairs whilst the ground floor is alarmed.

How long will it take to install my alarm?

It takes on average 6 hours to install a standard intruder alarm system.

Could an intruder alarm work with my pets?

Yes. Through careful system design and professional installation, intruder alarms have been installed in thousands of homes with Pets with notable positive results. We also offer Pet friendly sensors.

Would my wireless internet connection interfere with the wireless alarm?

Your wireless alarm will utilise a dedicated 868 MHz narrow band radio channel which is exclusive for the security industry and as such unlikely to receive interference from your wireless internet connection.

Do you offer any guarantee on the alarm system?

We provide 12 months NO QUIBBLE minimum guarantee on ALL WEBB SECURITY SYSTEMS as well as a Compliance Certificate issued by the SSAIB.

Can I add extra sensors to my alarm package?

YES. Extra sensors can be added to your alarm package if required; at an additional cost.

How soon can you install my burglar alarm?

We endeavour to fit systems within seven days; however we can fast track an installation in emergency circumstances.

Non monitored Alarms

These are burglar alarms which make only audible noises from the external and or internal sounders when an alarm is triggered. The “bells-only” alarm may deter intruders and alert the neighbour when the alarm activates but on its own will not generate police response.

Monitored Alarms

A burglar alarm is monitored when the alarm system is connected via telephone line or radio network or both to a remote central station for the purpose of monitoring the alarm signals from the protected premises 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Monitored alarm will incur monthly or annually service charges in addition to the installation costs of the respective alarm package (shown above).

Personal Attack Alarm

Personal attack alarm is sometime referred to as Panic attack alarm. The alarm can be invaluable in summoning help when you are attached or feel threatened by an intruder or a stranger in your home or at your business.

Personal attack alarm can be integrated into the burglar alarm and may be connected to Group 4 Alarm Receiving Centre for Police response in the event of an emergency.

SMS Text Alerts / Voice Alerts

If you choose a Honeywell Series or PowerMax control panel for your system, this can be connected to your existing BT/NTL landline and up on activation of your security system you will receive a voice/text message to your mobile phone indicating type of activation time and date, this can be sent to 3 mobiles if required.

Speech Dialers

Burglar alarm may be connected to a speech dialler which enables the alarm system to send messages to a combination of telephone numbers (including mobile phones) in the event of alarm activation. The speech dialler may be stand alone equipment which is attached to the burglar alarm or may be in built in the alarm control panel.

Speech diallers may allow for external communication by the alarm system; however they do not make the burglar alarm qualify for police response.

In order to get police response on confirmed alarm activation and for peace of mind security, a monitored burglar alarm (ACPO Policy Document DD243:2004 Compliant) must be installed.
